Denaby Wanderers v. Conisborough Town
These teams met at Denaby on Monday afternoon in the presence of about 300 spectators. The home team won the toss and played downhill. A splendid run by Jones enabled Dunn to score first goal for the homesters five minutes from the start. Denaby kept up the pressure and were within an ace of scoring, Biggs knocking the ball out with his hand, Denaby’s appeal for a penalty kick being fruitless. Shortly before the interval the visitors equalised.
On resuming the homesters raced away, but were repulsed by the visiting backs. Sticking to their work, however, Jones put the homesters in front amidst cheers. Shortly after Meakin added a third. The Denabyites continued to have the best of the exchanges, and when the whistle blew had won a good game by 3 goals to 1.
