Denaby Judgment Summonses
An echo of the Denaby and Cadeby strike was again heard in the Doncaster Second Court, on Saturday morning, when Mr. Gichard prosecuted on behalf of the Denaby and Cadeby Colliery Company in three instances for the enforced payment of judgment summonses.
The first defendant was Pat Flemming, alias Connolley, who owed £6 and costs, the order being made out on August 23rd, 1902.
Mr. Gichard said no payment had been made by the defendant, who was earning £1 5s. 2d. per week.
Pat had no reason to give why he should not pay. Defendant was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, committal to be suspended if he made a regular payment of 5s. a week towards the order.
Thos. Artbur Hirst owed the same amount, and earns £1 8s. 8d. per week.
Geo. Clark, miner had paid £1 2s. 6d. towards the order which had been made out on August 30th, 1902. He still owed £5 5s. and costs, and earned £1 16s. 6d. per week.
A similar order was made in both cases as in the first one.
