Conisboro’ Visited by Burglars
Much commotion was caused on Tuesday morning when it became known that Conisboro’ had, during Monday night or early on Tuesday morning, been visited by burglars.
The Red Lion was evidently the first place visited, and an entrance was effected by means of a back window. The kitchen was the chief scene of their depredations, but other rooms were also visited. The thieves were not teetotalers evidently, for they took toll of the wines and spirituous liquors in which Mr. Nesbitt deals.
After leaving the sign of the Lion, the thieves appear to have wished to pay a visit to Mr. Leonard’s premises, but being evidently suspicious, they effected an entrance to a house close at hand, occupied by Mr. John Crowcroft, and here they took money and a gold watch-chain. They appear to have left hurriedly, for they forgot to take some of the spoil they had lifted from the Red Lion Inn. It is to be hoped our police will succeed in discovering the delinquents.
