Supporters’ Wonderful Gifts to Denaby United

In the last 16 weeks, Denaby United Supporters’ Club have made total grants to Denahy United Football Club of £1,000

Announcing this magnificent result this week, the Supporters’ Club 1, President. Mr. Jack Greathaid said that to complete this figure, a cheque for £400 was handed over to the football club at the Welfare Institute, Denaby, on Saturday.

”We have hit the jackpot this time” he said. “We have been trying for some time to give the club £1.000 in a year but before this we have not even managed the sum in twelve months’ working.

“We give the club £200 in both September and October and sums of £100 in November and December. This averages out at a rate of £62 a week”. He added that without these gifts the football club would be unable to carry on.

Pools Scheme

The money is raised by football pools scheme and by other efforts.

Some indication of the magnificence of the gifts and the tremendous amount of work involved can be seen from the fact that the club have only 300 members and the officials and committee total only 16.

Mr. Greathead said the Supporters’ Club were extremely grateful to everyone who had helped in this wonderful achievement.
