Proposed Restoration of Conisborough Church.
Bazaar at Doncaster Yesterday.
Yesterday a Bazaar was opened in Doncaster, in aid of the restoration of Conisborough church.
The interior of this ancient and interesting building was restored about 16 years ago, but, owing to the lack of funds, the exterior was untouched, though sadly in need of repair.
The present vicar, the Rev. J.G.Wood, as recommended the project, and, in addition to yesterday’s Bazaar has already obtained a number of donations, including hundred pounds from the Rev. F.J.Ramsden and £25 from Mrs Ramsden, who recently took up their abode in Conisborough.
There were seven elegantly arranged stalls, one of which was reserved for refreshments, the ladies who had charge of them being Mrs J.G. Wood, Mr Levy, Mrs Norton, Mrs Shand, Miss Twining, Miss Duncan, Mrs Hills, Miss Millward, Mrs Johnson, Miss Johnson, Mrs Colley, Mrs Greaves, Mrs Simpson and Miss Simpson.
The Vicar, in opening the Bazaar, said it had been hoped that the venerable Archdeacon Watkins, was deeply interested in Conisborough, would have been present, but that he was out of Yorkshire. He had however, shown his practical interest in the project, and in his absence the duty of declaring the Bazaar open, had devolved upon him.
He then stated the object in view, and said that was about £2,000 was required to carry out what was intended, but that, though they did not expect to get all that, their friends and come forward in a very generous manner, and the ought to realise a nice sum of money.
Plants for decorations, together with grapes etc and been sent by Lady Scarborough, and autographs of the Queen and the late Prince Consort by Lady Halifax. There was a moderate attendance of visitors.

Bazaar
As stated last week the Bazaar in aid of the restoration of the exterior of Conisborough church was held in the Guildhall, Doncaster, on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17th, and was continued on Saturday.
The stalls were very tastefully arranged under the management of Mrs Watson, of Doncaster, and superintendent by the members of the Conisborough Ladies work Association and their friends.
The Bazaar was patronised by many kind friends in Doncaster and the neighbourhood.
The proceeds amounted to about £200. We are glad to learn that a subscription list had been open for restoration fund.
