Denaby Unlucky to Lose
Sheffield United Reserves 2 Denaby United 1
Denaby United put up a great show against Sheffield United Reserves at Bramall Lane. Good football was played by both sides. Denaby, were unlucky not to win, for they had more than their share of the game.
Denaby had to field a weakened team. Sheffield were at their best in the first half, in which Owens and Goodison scored, Hoyland netting for Denaby midway through the second half.
Denaby pressed strongly, and several times came near to scoring. Sheffield’s new centre forward Winstanley, could not get going and Owens was the best of the forward line with North, Gregory and parking outstanding in defence.
The Denaby defence played well with C Shephard and Gibbs skilful forwards.
