Denaby Finishing With a Flourish

Denaby United, whose remarkable victory at Millmoor on Saturday against prospective Midland League champions, Rotherham Reserves, allied with Frickley Colliery’s defeat at Wisbech, carried them clear of the league’s re-application zone, are finishing the season with a flourish, beating Scarborough at Scarborough on Wednesday evening 3-1.

They made sure of the points in the first half, Weakley (2) and Dixon getting their goals. Pick scored Scarboro’s only goal in a second half dominated by the Denaby defence.

United play their last match of the season at York to-night (Friday).

The fifth annual dinner of Denaby United Supporters’ Club, one of the most active in South Yorkshire, is to be held next Friday, May 13th.
