Child drowned
Yesterday week, whilst a vessel called the Sally was lying in the basin at Cawthorne, a boy five years of age, son of John Bedford, of Conisbrough, the master, went on shore, and a search being made for him at noon, his body was found in the canal a few yards from the place where the vessel was lying.
It is supposed he had fallen from a plank placed between the boat and the shore.
An inquest was held on the body before Mr Taylor, coroner, when the jury returned a verdict of “accidentally drowned”
