Accident on the South Yorkshire Railway

The passenger train which leaves Doncaster at 7:40 AM for Sheffield, ran into a train of empty trucks near Conisbrough station on Tuesday morning.

The accident appears to have occurred entirely through the thick fog, which obscured the line, and prevented any object being seen at more than three or four yards distance.

The shock of the collision threw all the passengers from their seats and bruised some of their faces.

The passenger train was slackening speed at the time of the accident, and thus obviated the worst consequences
