Fatal Accident at Denaby Main Colliery
Yesterday afternoon John Phipps, a miner employed at the above colliery, was preparing for a fall of call, about one o’clock, in the usual manner.
The fall came unexpectedly upon him; he was fearfully crushed, and died about two o’clock the same afternoon.

An inquest was held at the police station , Denaby, yesterday, before J Webster Esq., Coroner, on view of the body of John Phipps, 24 years of age, miner, who died on Tuesday last from injuries he received by a fall of coal in the Denaby Main colliery, as already recorded.
A verdict of “accidental death” was returned
