Denaby Utd – Scunthorpe 3 Denaby 0 – Denaby still in the Slough

Denaby Still in the Slough.

Scunthorpe United 3 Denaby United 0

Denaby have struck a rank bad patch just now. Three defeats in succession is not their form. They have certainly not prospered with the Lincolnshire clubs, having dropped eight points in their encounters with Grimsby (twice), Lincoln (twice), Boston and Scunthorpe, and four of them at home.

On the Show Ground, last Saturday, they’ve fared no better than they did last season, when they were at their nadir. Scunthorpe were too good, and to make matters worse, Denaby, were handicapped by the loss of Ekins, 10 minutes before the interval.

“Dick” Coope had to go in goal, and made a very fair share at tenting, but, of course, the dislocation of the Denaby defence was an additional lift for Scunthorpe.

Winchombe and Maycock got through in the first, and it was shortly after Maycock´s success that Ekins was lamed. In the second half, Scunthorpe strengthened their advantage with a brilliant goal from Meredith.
