Denaby went down yesterday at home before Pontefract.
Turton, the old Ackworth player. Played a big innings of 103. He was missed in the field four times and all but run out before Narraway stumped him: When he went in Pontefract had three wickets down for 21. He hit 16 4´s, and a 6, contributing 103 to a total of 168.
Soars and Luther Robinson missed him before he had reached double figures, and Dick Coope and Robinson missed him later. Atkins took one Wickets for 23 runs and Shoosmith secured four for 60. Gibbs did not come off this time. 23 runs were knocked off his four overs. But Worthington did exceedingly well, getting 5 for 22.
Denaby opened and had 41 runs on before the first wicket fell. There was still a promise of victory when the score was carried to 63 before the second wicket fell, but then Denaby collapsed, and, though the tail made a brave attempt, the total fell 31 runs short. Spink who formerly played the Castleford, bowled unchanged, and secured 6 wickets for 48 runs.
