Denaby Dons its Finery
Brave Array of Flags

When the news had become known on Wednesday that the war was over, it was not long before the streets in Denaby Main began to don their festive guise and garlands and festoons of the national colours or any other bright colours available, hung from Windows and across the streets.

Flags were flown from all places and it was only when rain began to fall in the afternoon that further activities for the celebration of peace had to be abandoned.

The children are prepared for their bonfires and when the weather improves they soon resumed their celebrations which they enjoyed to the full.

Services were held in the places of worship and in the evening of Wednesday there was a service of thanksgiving in the Parish church.

Sunday next will be observed as a day of thanksgiving for peace in all the places of worship.
