Mischievous Trapper

Patrick Mannion, age 15 years, was charged with a breach of special rule 86, in force at Denaby Colliery, on October 8.

Mr Hickman prosecuted, said the defendant was charged with giving a signal in the mine without being authorised to do so.

Defendant’s duty was to attend to the ventilation doors in one of the planes, along which the corves are worked by a statutory engine.

Out of mischief defendant gave the signal, and the corves dashed down through the ventilation doors and interfered with the ventilation.

Fined two shillings and costs.
