Denaby’s English Cup Victory

Norton Woodseats 0, Denaby Utd.3

Had Norton one sees been able to round of their attacks with the same efficiency as that of their approach work, the result of this match at Dronfield would have been altogether different.

A word of praise, however, must be given to Winn in the Denahy coal. He was never afraid to run out, and time and time took the ball off the toe of the onrushing forwards.

There was one man who beat Norton Woodseats, Massarella , the diminutive outside right of , Denaby was much too fast for the home defence, and virtually left them standing. It was he who gave the pass to Fleetwood to open the Denaby account, and this he followed bv scoring two picture goals.

There was one period in the first half when Woodseats literally bombarded the Denaby goal, in which the crossbar and the upright were struck. What sees halfbacks, Gill , Laister and Bach, all played well, whilst Hedgers was their most dangerous forward.
