Degree Success
Mr David Thomas (22) son of Mrs Ethel Thomas, 21 Hameline Road Conisbrough, has obtained a second class honours degree B.A. at Oxford University.
Mr Thomas, who obtained a West Riding County Minor scholarship from Morley Place School to Mexborough Grammar School and won a State bursary to Oriel College, Oxford, secured a wartime degree but returned to the University after war-time service in order to classify.
He has been reading physics and is to enter the employment in London of Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd.
He secured his war-time degree after two years’ University study and served in the Roval Navy for about 18 months. He was a Sub-Lieutenant
