Assault at Conisborough

On Saturday night last a friendly warning was given to Mr Moody at the Alma Inn that, as his son, who assists in the business, was going home, he would be assaulted by certain persons who entertained a grudge against him.

Mr Moody, therefore, accompanied his son, having previously sent a warning to the police.

As father and son approached the latter’s house, the son was felled by a heavy weapon. As Mr Moody stooped to raise him, he himself received a nasty blow on the side of the head.

Another son was already defending himself courageously and the affair was promising to become one of the most serious kind when the police approached.

On seeing the latter the assailants fled, but they will appear at the Doncaster Court on Monday.

Mr Moody and his sons entertained the most grateful feelings for the timely assistance by the police.
