Denaby Boxing Contests.
Another excellent programme was at the Miners’ Welfare Baths, Denaby Main, Saturday night, before a record attendance.
The chief bout of the evening between Steve Firman, of Swinton, and Johnny Regan, of Maltby, over ten two-minute rounds, ended in a points win for Firman. Regan entered the ring with a plaster over his left eye, and during the third round Firman landed a straight left on the eye. Regan was handicapped and in great pain, but he pluckily fought on.
Jack Cornwall, of Rawmarsh, when behind points, gained a surprising victory in the sixth round when the seconds of Sunny Birks, of Doncaster, threw in the towel.
Tush Hill, of Conisborough, defeated Young Sims, of Mexborough, points over four rounds.
The bout between Young Sharpies, of Conisborough and Young Dido, Mexborough was stopped the third round by the referee in favour of Sharpies, who completely outclassed his opponent.
