Denaby Unlucky
Worksop 3 Denaby United 1
Denaby were beaten at Worksop but were rather unfortunate. The second half they were handicapped by that E.L.Finney, their centre half, what we carried off the field with a fractured collarbone.
That disorganised the Denaby team. He dropped back into the middle line and Neil took for displaced, leaving only four forwards.
Clifford Parker at occupy the left-wing by himself. He did his work so well, so well that in the end Billy Cooke the old Sheffield United player who oppose at right back, congratulating him on his display.
Parker is improving every week and his display in this match reminded us all that great display at Liverpool two years ago, when he played in the Mexborough Schools Team
Breakwell was not at home at centre-forward. In the second half Neal found his old form and Speight kept a good goal. Ratford was good at right back, Worksop showed enterprising methods and were two up in 20 minutes. Following their first raid Stanniland hit an upright with a spot kick given for handling by North, but later FIRTH gave them their first goal. The same player was soon on the mark, first hitting the crossbar and then scoring from the rebound. Denaby attacked with vigour and one hefty drive by Parker almost beat the Worksop goalkeeper. The exchanges became more even with Denaby the better side. After Finney’s accident Parker put across several fine centres and from one HANCOCK scored with first timer. STANNILAND settled the issue for Worksop.
Finney is detained in the Fullerton hospital.
