The revived Christmas Day fixture between Mexborough and Denaby United proved as popular as ever and drew a big crowd to the Hampden Road enclosure.

Mexborough won by 2-1 after a thrilling game, which was packed with incident.

Half-time arrived with a blank score sheet, but five minutes after the resumption C. Taylor, an inside-right from Kilnhurst United, who was making his first appearance with Mexborough, scored a good goal.

Garner equalised two minutes later from a penalty, and Foxall headed what proved to be the winning goal 15 minutes from time.

Denaby played an excellent, game, Smith and Grey being prominent. The home side were kept hard at it the whole time.
