Denaby Utd – Hull City Res 2 Denaby 1

26 September 1930

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Friday 26 September 1930

Hull City Reserve 2  Denaby United  1

Denaby United, who opened in promising style and were a goal up early in the game, were more decisively beaten Hull than the score of 2—1 indicated.

The chief weakness was at halfback, though Heywood often asserted himself the left and did much to prompt distinctly useful wing represented by Hargreaves and Skeels. Pratt made the most of the few opportunities received in the centre. Brannon played soundly in goal, and did much to minimise defeat.

Hull introduced three strangers in the attack, but they rarely impressed. Fawcett was a trickv right-winger.

Raleigh and Foster scored for Hull, and Gilchrist for Denaby.
