Denaby Father Remanded

Thomas Michael Birmingham, miner, of Denaby, was, after application Mr W Baddeley, remanded until Saturday.

He was charged with neglecting his daughter, and Mr Baddeley, who prosecuted, only offered evidence of arrest.

Detective Ransome of the West Riding Constabulary, spoke to arresting Birmingham on a warrant. He replied: ā€œIā€™m guilty of no cruelty.ā€

Asked if he had anything to say why should not be remanded, prisoner replied that he had always done his best for the girl, but that she was untruthful. She had disappeared on Saturday week, and he had done his best by enquiries and advertisements to trace her.

The Chairman advised him to consult a solicitor.
