Begging at Denaby

A miner of no fixed abode, named John Ridge, for begging at Denaby on Saturday was sent to gaol for seven days. Unfortunately for him, at a quarter to six o’clock at night he stopped a policeman in plain clothes and when the constable told him his calling he became abusive, so he took him into custody, and when he searched him he found 20 pennies and ten halfpennies together with a tramps outfit on him.
