Conisboro’ Recruits Rousing Send Off.
A hearty send-off was accorded to the ‘following well known Conisboro’ young men, who have enlisted for military service in defence of their King and country:
Charles Hill, Reginald Clarkson, Louis Moore, Wm. Lewis, Harry Appleyard, Walter Robinson, and John Booth (Royal Field Artillery) and William Gilmore (Army Medical Corps).
All the young men are members, of highly rrespected professional, private or business families in Conisboro’.
They were all members of the Conisboro’ Recreation Club, and carried the good wishes of their fellow members.
A large number of well-wishers (including relatives) assembled in Brook Square on Wednesday morning to wish the recruits God-speed and a safe return.
They left Conisboro’ by 7 a.m. in motor-cars, lent by Mr. Harold Sharp, Mr. Rawding, Mr. Bateson, Mr Webster, and Mr. A. Gurney (taxi cab). Amidst hand-shaking, smiles, tears and hearty ringing cheers the motor cars were set in motion and proceeded on their way to Sheffield, where the party were to entrain for Newcastle.
