Obituary – Longbottom.

The funeral took place at Conisborough yesterday of Mr. Ned Longbottom (75), Rock Terrace, Conisborough.

He was born at Swinton and moved to Kilnhurst, where at the age of ten he began work in the glass bottle trade in the employ of Blunn Bros. Following the same trade he moved to Conisborough to enter the service of Kilner Bros.

After being in their employ for 30 years he obtained work at Cadeby Main, and after 26 years’ service retired under the mutual help scheme two years ago.

He was formerly in the choir of Kilnhurst Parish Church. He was a well-known cricketer. He played with Thrybergh Park and won the batting medal in 1880; and latterly for Conisborough. He was fond of his garden, particularly of his favourite roses.
