Collins – Graham

At Doncaster Parish Church on Saturday, Miss Muriel Graham, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Graham, 45, Broxholme Lane, Doncaster was married to Mr. Harold Vernon Collins, fifth son of the late Mr. Thomas Collins and Mrs. Collins of 127, Tickhill Street, Denaby Main.  Both families are well known in the Doncaster, Conisbro’ and Denaby districts.

The vicar of Doncaster (Cannon Brook) officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore hyacinth-blue chiffon velvet with hat and shoes en suite and carried a shower bouquet of white tulips, carnations and white heather. She was attended by her younger sister, Miss Mary Graham, attired in a salmon pink dress of elephant crepe trimmed with velvet and Miss Rose Marsh (Goldthorpe) in pale green brocaded satin, black satin shoes and black hat. The bridesmaids carried sheeves of pink tulips.

The best man was the bridegroom’s younger brother, Mr. Jospeh T. Collins (Denaby Main) and the groomsman Mr. Edmund G. H. Haller, Doncaster.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Co-operative Café, Doncaster where upwards of  50 guests were entertained.

The bride’s father is manager of the Central Store of the Doncaster Mutual Co-operative Society Ltd., and the bridegroom is on the staff of the Denaby Main Industrial  Co-operative Society.  The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a dressing case, and the bride’s to the bridegroom a diamond tie-pin.  To the bridesmaids the bridegroom gave crystal necklaces.

The bride, who was formerly a member of the household staff of Hickleton Hall, received a cheque from the late Lord Halifax just before he died, and from the staff a half dinner service. Mr. and Mrs. Collins are to reside  at 3, St. Andrew’s Road, Conisborough.
