Assault at Denaby

Thomas Oliver, miner, Denaby Main, was summoned by Esther Evans for assault.

Mr. Hickmot defended.

Complainant said she went to defendant’s house to collect a debt of 10s, and defendant seized her and struck her with his fist two or three times.

For the defence, defendant’s brother, said that the women came for the money, and when they said they could not pay she picked up a cup and threatened to throw it, and afterwards seized a knife which she said she would stick defendant with. They put there out without the necessary allowance.

Fined 20s. and costs.
