Another Assault at Conisbrough

Caroline Burton was summoned by Mary Smith for assaulting her on 25th August. According to the complainant, the incident took place between six and seven o’clock in the evening. The defendant threw stones at her, dragged her into the gutter, and struck her with her fists on the head and face.

After briefly escaping into her house, the complainant was again attacked when she returned outside. The defendant admitted striking her. Sarah Elizabeth Goodlad gave corroborative evidence.

The defendant, having no means to pay, was fined 20 shillings, including costs.
