A Careless Cyclist

Edward Brown, labourer, Conisborough, was charged with riding a bicycle on the footpath at Conisborough on Feb. 6th

P.c. Dobbs stated that the defendant ran his machine the footpath among a lot of children and knocked one of them down, hurting it very seriously.

Defendant pleaded guilty, and stated that he would got have gone on the footpath but that the road was very rough and the weather was bad also.

The Chairman informed the defendant that he was liable to a fine of £2, but the Bench would take a lenient view of the offence, and a fine of 5s. and costs would be inflicted.
