A Churchwarden.

We regret to record the death, which occurred on Saturday, after a short illness, of Mrs Mary Ann Nicholson, Rock House, Conisborough, widow of Mr George Thomas Nicholson, who was for many year’s Connected with the Holywell brewery, Conisborough.

Mrs Nicholson, who was 79 years of age, was a native of Doncaster, and a younger daughter of the late Mr. A. E. Winter. Mrs Nicholson spent the greater part of her life in Conisborough —over 50 years —and had resided at Rock House for 40 years.

Mrs. Nicholson was never happier than when helping others, and her numerous charities were bestowed quietly. Throughout her residence in Conisborough Mrs. Nicholeon was a devoted worker for the Pariah Church. She succeeded her husband on his death as vicar’s warden twelve years ago, and held that office up to her death.

Several years ago she presented Church House to be used as a boys’ club. Mrs. Nicholson took a keen interest in the social life of Conisborough and next to her love for her church was her interest in.

She leaves one son, Mr. Morton Nicholson, of Hazleburn, West Linton, Peebles. Her elder son, Mr. Winter Nicholson, was killed in the war.

The interment took place at Doncaster Cemetery on Tuesday morning, the Rev. H. Lee, Vicar of Conisboro’, officiating.
