A Conisboro’ Man’s Game Trespass
Forester W. Kirkland, a miner, of Conisboro’, was summoned by John Smith, a gamekeeper to Mr. F. J. O. Montagu, of Melton Park, for using a dog to take game without a license at Cadeby, on the 5th April.
Defendant’s mother appeared.
Mr. W. Baddiley prosecuted, and said on the 5th April the defendant, with four other men, were seen on a road leading from Melton to Melton Brand. They had a dog with a slip, but they were seen to let it go into a field belonging to Mr. Jubb and range it. It coursed two hares.
The gamekeeper had not ascertained who the names of the other men were.
John Smith, gamekeeper, gave evidence, and the defendant was fined 20s., including costs.
