A Conisboro’ Mix-Up

A dog case from Conisboro’ afforded some little amusement.

Charles Davies, a Conisboro’ miner, was summoned for having kept a canine creature without a license, on the 30th October.

The defendant denied that it was his dog, saying that it belonged to his son, who lived with him.

The son went into the witness-box, admitted the dog was his, and also admitted that he did not possess the necessary license.

Much amusement was occasioned when Supt. Blake coolly informed the witness that he would have to attend Court the following Saturday, as he intended issuing a summons against him.

The witness, however, submitted to a summons that day, and the Chairman informed him that he would have to pay 2s. 6d., a titter going round the Court, when his father, the original defendant, at once paid up, so that “all’s well that ends well.”
