Yesterday, at Wakefield. William Henry Howden, miner, Denaby, and late of Wakefield, was charged with deserting his wife and five children.

The defendant some time ago agreed to make his wife a weekly allowance, and then went and cohabited with another woman.

He neglected to pay the allowance, and on his wife applying to the Guardians for relief they allowed her and her children 4s. 6d. per week for 11 weeks, and now summoned the defendant for that amount.

He was sent to prison for two months
