A Drunken Assault.
Henry Humphries, a miner, of Denaby, was charged with being drunk, and refusing to quit the Station Hotel, Conisboro’ on the 24th ult., and of assault.
Mr Baddiley appeared for the complainant, Mr. F. Lowe, and said since the assault took place the defendant had expressed his sorrow, and as it was his first offence Mr. Lowe did not wish to press the case.
The complainant said on the night of the 24th ult., he was called to his bar, where he saw the defendant having a dispute with another man. Witness ordered defendant out, but he refused to go, and he was then put out. Since then defendant had been and apologised to him.
Defendant, who pleaded guilty, was fined 7/6 and 16/6 costs.
