A Horse Drowned in the Don
Early on Friday morning last a number of miners who were going to work at Denaby noticed a young horse, the property of Mr Foster, Butcher, Mexborough, had got into the river Don by some means.
The poor animal remained in the water until the afternoon before an attempt was made to extricate it from its perilous position.
On being drawn to the bank the horse fell dead from exhaustion.
