A Jubilee Of Service
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Wray of Conisborough, who celebrate their Golden Wedding on Monday, are one of the limited number of married couples in the West Riding who are both Justices of the Peace.
This comparatively rare distinction is shared, I believe, so far as this part of the riding is concerned, by Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Nicholson of Brampton, who sit on the Rotherham West Riding bench. In all four cases the honour has been merited by dint of valuable public service and the responsibilities have been discharged in a manner which has justified the choice up to the hilt.
The idea that the busy man (or woman) is the best person to approach when the job needs doing well is fully endorsed by the example of Mr. and Mrs. Wray.
Mr. Wray has combined his public duties with a successful business career and Mrs. Wray has brought up a family of three sons and run a large home with smooth efficiency, in addition to her public responsibilities. Theirs has indeed been a full and yet well-ordered life, and they can look back on it with a satisfactory sense of fulfilment from the vantage point of this happy anniversary.
