A Lively Scene

That must have been a lively scene on Saturday afternoon last at the Co-operative stores, if not rather too warm and lively for the parties concerned.

About three o’clock one of the staff appears to have been seized with a sudden determination to dispose of the other employees connected with the stores, and, assuming a very menacing attitude, armed with a pistol in each hand, we think the position of Mr. Martin and his assistants, whom he threatened to dispense with first, must have been very uncomfortable indeed.

We are, however glad to note that no harm was done before the firearms were safely secured, as well as their owner, whose conduct was unaccountable.

The affair has created quite a sensation in the village: The unfortunate assistant we understand, had been a sufferer from influenza, which had caused him to get into a low state of mind, and ended as above.
