A Million Loads
A fine record has been achieved by the Denaby and Cadeby Coal Carting Committee. a mineworkers’ organisation which was pioneer undertaking in the scheme for carting to miners’ homes the cheap coal allowed them by the Denaby and Cadeby Main Collieries.
The Committee is now entering into the 19th year of its history and approaching the stage when it will have delivered 1,000,000 loads of coal.
Credit is also due to the committee’s lorry drivers for the fact that, despite the vast network streets in the area served the organisation, they have not had any accidents.
The accounts for the year, issued yesterday, show that the income was £4,369 including £3,605 from the workmen at the Denaby and Cadeby pits. The profit for the year was £42.
