A Prevalent Practice.
On Saturday, at the Doncaster Police Court, several Denaby pit-hands, Leonard Harris, Wellman Grindle and Leonard Holland were summoned for playing at football on the highway at 6-20 on the morning of 3rd May.
P.c. Wetherell said he saw them kicking a ball along the road on their way home. He had had many complaints about this practice and he had two windows broken in his house.
Fines of 15s. each were imposed.
