A Separation Order.

At Doncaster, on Saturday, Patrick Donelan, miner,’ Conisbro’, was summoned for deserting his wife. Ellen Donelan

The complainant said she had two children. Her husband’s earnings were 6s 6d. day. She wished for a maintenance order. The husband said his wife told him would want nothing from him if he left the house furnished, and she had lodgers.

Police constable Jarvis corroborated this.

The order was granted, the allowance per week to be 10s.

Defendant: I shan’t pay a penny; that’s me. (Laughter)

You can send me for as long as you have a mind; I shan’t pay.
