A Smoky Traction Engine
Frederick Wilson, traction engine owner, Conisbro’, was summoned for using a locomotive propelled by steam on the high- way which did not consume its own smoke as far as practicable, on July 20th.
Police-constable Midgely deposed that the engine was emitting dense smoke in Doncaster road and Denaby lane, Denaby.
He watched the engine for some distance, and followed it for a quarter of a mile, and it kept on emitting dense smoke. He drew the attention of a man to the engine, who said it was something fearful.
Polices Sergeant Knight said defendant had been convicted five times at Doncaster.
He was now fined 20s., including costs.
