Sailor – G.E. Goddard – Return to Sea

October 1939

Mexborough & Swinton Times, October 1939

Able Seaman, G.E.Goddard

Able Seaman, G.E.Goddard, son of Mr C Goddard, of 54, Balby Street, Denaby Main, was until quite recently a member of the crew of the Royal Oak.

In July A.B.Goddard had had been with the Royal Oak for at least 12 months, but then had to leave his ship for his Gunner course, during which period he sustained an injury to his foot and he was unable to rejoin his ship for a time, otherwise there is no doubt he would have been on board the ship at the time of the disaster.

He is, however, now fully recovered, and leaves in another ship this weekend.

A.B.Goddard has many friends in Denaby Main, who will wish him good luck on this coming voyage
