Miss Moss, the headmistress of Balby Street infants’ school, who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, has now passed the danger point and is making satisfactory progress towards recovery.

Scenes reminiscent of bank Holiday, 1922, were witnessed in the vicinity of The Brook on Wednesday afternoon.

During the afternoon, following a thunderstorm, the water rose rapidly, and owners of pigs and fowls housed along the banks had to wade through the floods to rescue their live stock.

Some hens were lost through drowning and being washed away. The children thoroughly enjoyed catching the flotsam
