Accident At The Denaby Main Colliery

John Wall, 13 years of age, a pony driver at the Denaby Main Colliery, and living in the village of Denaby Main, was taking a tub of coals down one of the roadways when he met with an accident which resulted in his death.

John Wharmsby told him that his wooden locker was broken, and Wall replied, “Never mind, I have an iron one that will do.”

Shortly afterwards he was found by Warmaby lying dead in the tub with a chain round his leg.
