Accident – P.C. and Motorist’s Help

Last Wednesday evening Ann Joyner (11) the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Joyner, of 7, Melton View, Denaby Main, fell and injured her leg near the old N.C.B. Repairs Depot in Amnerly Street.

Police Constable Phillipson, who was passing the spot, realised the seriousness of the injury and immediately gave first aid. He sent a youth with his cycle to the Police Station, stopped a passing motorist and got him to take him and the injured girl to Mexborough Montagu Hospital. Mr. R. Burton also gave assistance and accompanied them to the hospital.

After Ann had had stitches inserted in the wound, P.c. Phillipson brought her home, again with the assistance of a motorists. Ann has to return to the hospital for treatment this week-end but she has made a good recovery, thanks to the prompt attention she received.
