Accident – PSV almost ran into Brook at Brook Square

April 1946

South Yorkshire Times, April, 14 1946.

Accident.

A public service vehicle almost ran into the brook at Brooke Square on Monday morning.

The bus, owned by Messrs. T. Severn and Sons, Stainforth, and driven by Francis Chapman (27), of 20, Alexina Road, Stainforth, had negotiated the corner at the Conisbrough cross roads when it mounted the footpath on the nearside of the bus and struck a bollard on the asphalted piece of ground near Mr. C.E. Webster’s shop premises.

The bollard was broken into two pieces and the bus came to rest near the brook.

The vehicle was conveying men to their work at the open cast coal scheme at Wentworth, but no one was hurt and they were able to proceed in another vehicle. The bus was slightly damaged.
