Accident to the Royal Mail at Conisborough.

On Monday on the arrival of the mail into Conisborough, the driver on going down (High Street (as it is commonly called by the older inhabitants) a narrow street leading to the newly established post office, had a serious mishap when within 50 yards of his destination.

The horse, which was a spirited one, shied at a heap of dirt left overnight by excavators making the sewage connections. At this point the street is very narrow.

The horse bolted down the hill, and collided against Mr Taylor shop, dashing the driver to the ground, injuring his shoulders and cutting his hand. The mail cart fared better than was expected after being tossed over and fell down the hill upside down to the Wesleyan Chapel.

It will have to go through a vast amount of repairs.

The driver was attended to by Dr McCall.
