Accidents
On Saturday night, John & Linnet Hemmings, of “Wveryney,” Ash Furlong, Dore, Sheffield, driving a Ford car along Doncaster Road, Conisborough, collided with a motor lorry, laden with hay, near the old quarry. Hemmings sustained cuts and abrasions. The other two occupants of the car escaped injury. The car was badly damaged.
Whilst taking part in the cricket match between Conisboro’ Church House and Conisboro’ Wesleyans in the Stott League, on Monday, John Humphries (17), son of the licensee of the “Eagle and Child.” Conisborough, was struck on the face when fielding at point. He was taken to the Fullerton Hospital and detained.
On Tuesday afternoon, John Pettinger, 13, Elliott Street, Wombwell, riding a bicycle along Old Bead, collided with another cyclist George Armstrong, of Conanby, and fell with his face on the handle bars. He sustained injuries to face and several teeth had to be extracted.
Samuel Croot, the six-year -old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Croat, Blythe Street, Denaby, was knocked down and injured by a motor-car on the Sheffield road at Conisboro’ on Wednesday. After first aid he was taken home.
Mrs. J. Cousins, Church Street, Conisboro’, while carrying out household duties fell from a chair on which she was standing and fractured her left arm.
