Conisbro’ D.F.C. At The Palace

 Decorated by the King

Squadron leader John Hubert Dunk, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Dunk of Conisbrough, was at a recent investiture at Buckingham Palace decorated with the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross by the King. It was the first investiture to be held by the King since his return from North Africa.

Squadron leader Dunk, who is 31, won his D.F.C. early this year. He volunteered for service in the R.A.F. three years ago, and has taken part in many sorties deep into enemy occupied territory. He holds the “Pathfinder’s” badge, a fact which the King noted when he spoke a few words to him on presenting the award.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Dunk accompanied their son and witnessed the investiture.
