Won His Wings

Mrs. A. Fuller, of 3, March Vale Terrace, Conisborough, has this week received a message from her son, Norman, who is in Canada, that he has won his wings and is now instructing. Norman came to Conisborough from Sheffield, when he was 11, and finished his education at Conisborough Modern School. He wanted to get into the Police Force, and first tried at Sheffield, but he was not accepted because he was a native of that city.

He was eventually successful in entering Manchester City Police Force, and was there when war broke out. He would have joined the Air Force at the commencement of hostilities, but at that time it would probably have jeopardised his post-war career in the Police Force, but his opportunity came about 18 months ago, when he was given the option of remaining in the Police Force or joining the R.A.F. and he took it. He is 28.
